Can you believe it? We're already halfway through September! Football season is in full swing, the leaves are starting to turn, and the weather's finally cooling down. No more brutal 90-degree days—woo hoo!
It's funny how we don’t always notice the days and seasons shifting, but they do. And just like the seasons change, so do our priorities. Let me explain...
I completely forgot the Emmys were this weekend! This is a huge deal - or at least it was - in my world.
I lived in Burbank and worked in Hollywood for over 8 years. I was pursuing a dream of becoming an Executive Producer for Walt Disney Studios. I worked at all the top studios: Dreamworks, Universal, Paramount, Fox, Disney, Warner Brothers, to name a few (super proud of my resume!)
And like any dream city, everyone who you are around also works in the industry. So when you are working, socializing and living in the industry, it is easy to become tunnel visioned to the idea that so does the rest of the country. In fact, you start to live in a bubble where that is all you live and breathe - and don't get me wrong - I loved it!
The industry is fast, addicting, and full of all the glamorous high highs most people can only dream about. Well one of the high highs is awards season. You work really hard on a project in hopes not just that people will watch it but you aim for the Oscar, the Golden Globe, The Emmys and more. Accolades like these top awards are the pinnacle of anyone's career in Hollywood, and it was for me.
Over my years in Hollywood, I earned over 8 Oscars, 3 Golden Globes, and 9 Emmys just to name a few.
I am here not to show off, but to reveal how winning an award, and therefore watching the award shows were the biggest events on your calendar throughout the year. In other words, watching these award shows were the biggest priority of our year.
And now - I completely forgot the Emmy's were on this weekend! It just did not even don on me. It is just so strange to go from the biggest events of your year to "Oh I missed it?".
The message I want to bring home here is over time our definitions of success and what we value most change.
The Emmys may have symbolized a pinnacle achievement in my career, now they feel distant compared to my current priorities: Being a present and engaged mom, wife, producer, business owner and Christ follower. Everything else has taken a back seat.
I want to tell you that similar to the change in seasons - you don't feel the change day by day, but over time summer becomes Fall and Fall becomes Winter.
This is true for YOU! It's okay if you're priorities are changing and growing - and that can include anything from personal development, family priorities, or a different career focus, and sometimes like me in this season - it is all three!
I want to give you permission to evolve and shift goals as life progresses, because some of us either fear that or feel we are less than worthy to grow out of our current situations.
The truth is, even though I am not currently living in Hollywood, the lessons from my Hollywood days still influence how I navigate life today.
Growth and change are natural, and sometimes even surprising, as our goals and values shift over time, and I want you to embrace whatever season you are going through today.
What goals and priorities have changed for you?
How did you realize you didn't want the same goals as your younger self?
What goals do you still want to accomplish in your future?
I'd love to know! I look forward to hearing from you, and hope you have a great week ahead!
“Your path at 22 will not necessarily be your path at 32 or 42. One’s dream is constantly evolving, rising and falling, changing course.”

If you feel like you aren't where you want to be yet, don't worry, most of us are not, but we need to keep taking the right, next steps forward.
3-7 TIMES!!! If anything, this emphasizes how adaptation is key to long-term success!
To bring this tidbit home - here is a study revealing the average person changes careers 3-7 times throughout their life—
Some of the best examples of this are: Steve Jobs, Oprah Winfrey, and J.K. Rowling - all faced significant challenges and career pivots before finding massive success.
Change and unexpected detours are common, and often essential, in creating a fulfilling life.
If you ever feel like you are not moving forward or that you somehow got "lost" on your path. I want you to know many successful people, from entrepreneurs to creatives, did not follow a straight path to their goals.
