Hi, Chaos Breaker!

Whoa, this article really caught my eye this week, and I just had to share it. It’s great to see mental health finally getting the attention it deserves, but it makes me wonder…

Are we actually making progress, or are we just talking about it more while our mental health continues to decline compared to previous generations?

Here’s the surprising stat: Young adults ages 18-26 had the largest jump in reported mental health service use from 2019-2022—45% of reported cases came from this group alone. And women are 2x more likely to report than men.

And yeah, these were the COVID years, which definitely played a role.

TAKEAWAY: Young adults 18-26 reported mental health concerns at almost double the rate of those aged 27-50, even though that covers a much larger age range. Specifically, Young Women are reporting the largest increase in mental health issues over the last 5 years.

ACTION: We’ve got to support our young women by equipping them with the skills to manage the building blocks of a thriving life: financial literacy, home organization, healthy routines, nutrition, and creating a supportive community.

This is what Schweet Living is all about and why we exist!

Schweet TIDBIT:

THE END OF HISTORY ILLUSION

Ever notice how we can easily reflect on how much we've changed in the past, yet assume we've finally figured ourselves out and won’t change much from here on out?

This phenomenon is known as "The End of History Illusion," a psychological concept suggesting that we often underestimate how much we will continue to evolve in the future. We think of our past selves as different, but our present self feels like the “finished” version of who we are.

Just as our past experiences shaped who we are today, our current priorities and perceptions will keep shifting, surprising us in ways we can’t yet predict. Embrace the journey— you're not done yet!
