Hey there, Chaos Breakers!

Today's discussion comes with some heaviness and tough love, but it’s one that needs to be had: IMPACT.

Late last night, I received a call from my husband. He said, “Babe, I’m going to be late. There’s been an accident, and they need help. Just pray.” My mind raced, trying to grasp the situation with the few details I had. All I knew was that an accident had just occurred, and lives were potentially lost.

We live near a major highway, and about a mile from our home, a severe multi-vehicle crash occured. My husband happened to be driving past it at that moment, and was one of the first on the scene. He was so brave, and did what he could—called 911 and directed traffic—but despite the emergency response, two innocent lives were lost: a young adult and a child.

I’m sharing this story not just because it’s heartbreaking, but because it hit close to home. I’m heartbroken for the families who lost their loved ones last night, and it’s made me reflect on how we MUST prepare for life’s unforeseen impacts.

IMPACT will happen—are YOU ready?

I renounce the thought of any situation this severe from happening to you, but the truth is, life is going to come at us and blindside us at some point or another. This isn't to scare you, but to prepare you.

Four years ago, COVID blindsided the world, and many were unprepared. Lives were lost, families crumbled, finances were decimated, and the mental and emotional scars are still fresh for many. What did we learn? Are you better prepared now if another impact comes tomorrow? Is your family protected?

I feel many of us are in a season of major impact: health diagnoses, financial adjustments, relational heartbreak. And if you are in that season, I hope you know you are heard and loved by all of us here.

My question to you is, are you ready to weather the storm that may come to you?

I know I was not ready six years ago. I faced a cancer scare, financial instability, relationship losses, physical trauma, heartbreak, and more. But today, my story is different. My husband and I have worked hard to secure our “Home Foundation” so that we can weather any storm. Some of our preparation includes paying off our debts, securing multiple income streams, saving a year’s emergency fund, and setting up a trust. I can sleep at night (in peace!) knowing that in our first years of marriage, we've done the work to get our "Schweet" together.

But I know that very few families and young adults have actually properly prepared for impact. Two years ago, a friend in her early thirties lost her husband and father to her three children in an accident, and they had no insurance to cover them. At the risk of sounding stern, her family would have a different outlook right now if they had taken the right steps to prepare for the worst, which would have made the loss of her husband and father to her children a slight bit more bearable.

I’m not here to guilt anyone—I say this all to alert you to wake up and take care of the blessings you have by working just a little more to make sure you can survive impact. You never know what's coming! This is the real mission behind Schweet Living. Yes, I want you to organize your home and feel peace in it, but more than that, I want you to protect it.

I’m grateful my husband was able to help those families last night, but I am honestly even more thankful that he wasn't in the accident himself. If he was just about 15 seconds earlier, he could have been the one in the accident, and our reality today could look totally different. We’re prepared for life’s impacts, but are you?

I pray for healing and peace for the families affected last night. I also pray they were prepared from this tragedy, with their finances, insurances, and emergency plans in place. If you’re not sure if you’re ready, I’m here to help guide you.

Don’t let avoidable pain create chaos in your life. Start now and get your “Schweet” together!

I love you all, and thank you for being part of this community. I look forward to a lighter topic next week.
