Hey there, Chaos Breakers!

What?! How?! Ugh... Summer is over and it literally turned to fall overnight!

I’m not kidding, this weekend the sun felt more like a fall sun, almost winter-like, and the leaves are all rainbow colors. It’s crazy how small changes suddenly become so big and obvious.

For example, ever since the longest day in June, it’s been getting darker by a minute each day. That’s not much to notice day by day, but now it’s dark a full hour earlier than it was a few weeks ago! Honestly, I’m not quite ready to trade in my summer days for pumpkins, football, and boots. But, as my husband said, “the seasons won’t hold out for [me].”

Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE FALL, but sometimes it feels like just when I’m getting into the groove of a season, it’s already over.

Do you ever feel that way?

We spent last week (our last "summer weekend") at my husband’s family cabin near Lake Superior, and it was so refreshing to escape the Nashville heat. We had plenty of cozy, autumn-like activities—bonfires at sunset, thunderstorms with open windows, a waterfall hike, stew, and of course, s’mores. It was lovely to be outside, enjoying the fresh air, instead of hiding from the heat with the AC on full blast.

While we were up there, I started reflecting on the history of that cabin. It’s been a summer escape for my husband’s family for over 80 years, now being enjoyed by the 5th generation. That’s pretty special, don’t you think?

My son will now get to experience something that his great-great-grandparents started—pretty neat! But interestingly, it all started out of necessity. My husband’s grandmother had asthma and couldn’t be in the city during summer because of the pollution in the 1940s, so her family retreated up north so she could breathe clean air.

Knowing this history got me wondering: Have we really progressed in the last 80 years when it comes to prioritizing personal health and well-being? Have the conveniences of modern life made it easier, or are we falling behind? It feels like health has become a “when I get to it” event instead of a natural part of our daily routines.

From the rising cost of groceries to the struggle of affording gym memberships, maintaining good health can feel like an uphill battle these days.

As fall settles in, I’m reflecting on the importance of transitions—whether it’s the changing leaves or keeping up with family traditions. Just as my husband’s family cabin has been a haven of well-being for decades, this season is reminding me to prioritize my own health, both physically and mentally.

I want to challenge you to use this fall to slow down, breathe in the crisp air, and focus on your wellness as we begin to wind down the year.

Personally, now that it’s cool enough to walk outside without melting, I’m setting some goals for myself this month. I'm calling it RESET September:

My goals are:

- Eat hormonally balanced meals, with an actual plan, not just when I “feel like it”.

- Walk a 5K every day.

- Drink the right amount of water.

- Prioritize movement and exercise.

- Try one new self-care experience.

Would you like to join me? Which part of this list seems the hardest? What seems easiest for you?

I’d love to hear how you’re planning to reset and refocus this fall!
