Wow, check this one out. A bag of Cheetos literally changed the delicate ecosystem of a cave. You can't make this up:
"The processed corn in the Cheetos, softened by the humidity of the cave, created “the perfect environment to host microbial life and fungi."
This is a wake up call! Imagine if the "processed corn" aka NOT FOOD. If it can weaken a rock's environment, imagine what it can do to your digestive track.
Trust me, I LOVE CHEETOS, but once I have one, I need the whole bag. That's the problem! This is not natural food, it was designed to be addictive so you buy more and give your money to those companies, then eventually pay for it in big pharma years down the road.
This is a planned system that does not have your optimal health in mind, but your wallet. You are worth more sick than healthy to these companies and big pharma. Plus, our body is not designed to handle these processed "foods" nonetheless actually eat it regularly.
TAKEAWAY: Limit your processed foods in your diet to strengthen your gut health. Cheetos is not food.
ACTION: Find another source of chips that is organic and natural.

Lotions, and ointments, and hair products... oh my!

Lotions, and ointments and hair products, oh my!
A new study came out yesterday linking several lotions, ointments and hair products to raised levels of disrupting chemicals in children ages 4-8.
Why is this bad? These chemicals are called phthalates are normally "added to plastics to make them more flexible and durable." When entered into our bodies, they "can mimic, block or interfere with the body’s own hormones."
This means young children may have disruptions in key development milestones like starting puberty earlier to brain and behavioral issues.
This is the first time these "personal health" products have been linked to young children and not just infants from pregnancy.
TAKEAWAY: Watch what personal care products you use in your home. See Schweet Tidbit for more info below.
ACTION: Align yourself with a vegan, plant-based skin care brand, preferably one that has a transparent ingredient policy and restricts ingredients to the level of the UK (they ban more ingredients than the US) and replace all your products to these "better for your skin" options.
Watch what personal care products you use in your home. Make sure they DO NOT HAVE any of the following:
Animal products or by-products
Artificial dyes or sweeteners
Formaldehyde preservatives
Parabens
Phthalates
Synthetic fragrances
High fructose corn syrup to name a few.
PS - I plan on digging into a lot more personal health and wellness topics as we grow.
This is just the tip of a very large iceberg, but stay focused on only improving one step at a time.
